ELVERTA, CA – Hold onto your cowboy hats, Rio Linda and Elverta! The whispers have turned into a roar, a tantalizing promise of beaver-themed bliss! Yes, that’s right, the legendary, the colossal, the undeniably Texan cultural institution known as Buc-ee’s has announced its plans to grace our humble corner of California with its presence.
Now, we put “gas station” in quotes, dear readers, because anyone who has dared to venture into the hallowed halls of a Buc-ee’s knows it’s less a pit stop and more of a pilgrimage. Imagine, if you will, a sprawling wonderland of jerky, fudge, beaver nuggets, and enough quirky merchandise to outfit a small army of road trippers. This isn’t just filling up your tank; it’s filling up your soul!
The Texas titan, which has already conquered the hearts (and stomachs) of folks in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and even Colorado, has finally set its sights on the Golden State. And where, you ask? Why, in the heart of Elverta, of course!
According to the Buc-ee’s CEO, Alan Smithee, the seeds of this ambitious endeavor were sown way back in 2015, during the raucous revelry of the Aftershock music festival at Gibson Ranch. “The vast, untamed expanse of Elverta, nestled conveniently at the crossroads of I-5, I-80, and near the mighty CA-99, just called to us,” Smithee shared with Rio Linda Online. “With CalTrans confirming a daily deluge of 12,300 to 46,700 vehicles traversing CA-99, we thought, why let them just drive by? Let’s give them a reason to stop, to savor, to experience the magic of Buc-ee’s!”

The gargantuan travel center will prominently be located off of CA-99 at Elverta Road and East Levee, occupying more than 75,000-square-feet of space. The outpost will boast a bustling convenience store and 120 fueling stations, employing more than 200 team members, ensuring visitors the fast and convenient service that has become Buc-ee’s gold standard.
And magic it will be! Picture a facility so vast, it could practically swallow Elverta whole. But fear not, dear neighbors! Smithee assures us that the store will be a beacon of local employment, particularly for those with a flair for the dramatic and a tolerance for sweltering beaver suits.
The grand opening is slated for February 29th, 2027. A date so far away, it almost feels like a dream. But until then, stay tuned for updates, and dream of beaver nuggets and brisket.

However, before you start planning your 2027 road trip, let us offer a hearty congratulations! You’ve successfully navigated the treacherous waters of our annual April Fool’s Day extravaganza! Yes, dear readers, this entire tale was a whimsical fabrication, a playful poke at the dreams and desires of our community. We hope you enjoyed the ride!
