Baseline Road is the primary transportation corridor for northwestern Sacramento County to West Placer County. Drastic changes are underway there, and Placer County has provided us with a look at the future of this critical roadway.
Placer County Director of Public Works Ken Grehm has created a video outlining some of the relevant changes happening to Baseline Road.
- Placer County expects to build over 20,000 new homes in the Baseline Corridor, and 10,000+ in the West Placer area, also known as the Placer Vineyards developments.
- Placer County plans to expand Baseline Road to six lanes all the way to 99/70. They are working with Sutter County to expand their portion to 4 lanes now.
- 3 miles to the north is the Placer Parkway, an expressway from Highway 65 in the Lincoln area west to 99/70. All of this work is focused on getting people from new housing in West Placer to Downtown Sacramento jobs per highway 99/70.
- The widening of Baseline Road and the striping and concrete barrier will be complete between Watt Ave and Fiddyment Road by the end of 2023. Placer County expects to have all the road work done from Fiddyment Road to the West Placer County line by the end of 2024.
- Of the stop signs on Baseline road, one will be eliminated, and three will be converted to traffic signals.
