Sacramento County Metro Fire crews tackled a multi-structure fire in Rio Linda Monday evening at 509 Elkhorn Blvd., with multiple modular homes burning near Elkhorn Boulevard and Sixth Street.
The fire, reported at 7:08 p.m., produced heavy smoke and flames, drawing the attention of local residents. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes. The vacant property, according to reports, had been frequented by area homeless.
Officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire and whether anyone was present at the time. Elkhorn Boulevard was closed during firefighting operations.
